Lisa Grant

THE ARTIST

Lisa has a love for colour, texture & creating art that symbolizes hope in abstract form.

She examines the concepts of hope & light, whilst exploring the movement of their ever- changing connection.

This connection is explored within the union & juxtaposition of the natural & spiritual worlds.  Lisa’s work in infused with transcendent ideas, that dance between her lived experiences of both worlds.  The latter sometimes expressed through Celtic traditions & symbols.

Lisa is a deeply thoughtful & considered artist whose insights observe both beauty & mystery in life’s ordinary moments.  She is an observer of life, nature, & people, & holds a seer’s insight into past, future, & present moments.  Lisa sees life, nature, people, past, future, & the present moment as sacred & finds the unique or extraordinary in them.

Her art has an organic flow with colour & materials interacting fluidly in her works.

This process speaks of a value she holds; that as we live life in a healthy flow & collaboration, we can work with each other & the natural world to bring nurture & order to chaos.

THE INVITATION

Lisa's intention is to evoke a deep sense of hope, light, peace, & rest through her unique use of colour & form.
Through her art Lisa extends an invitation to you -

to pause & consider.

In these moments of contemplation, she hopes her works offer the viewer a new way of experiencing hope & peace.

.

Currently living in southeast Melbourne, Lisa has a passion for creating symbolic art that reflects meanings and abstract ideas.  She portrays concepts such as hope, light, and change through representational colour and form.

Exploring the connection between the natural and spiritual world, Lisa infuses her work with symbolism and transcendent ideas. At times focusing on the natural world and at times on the spiritual.  The latter being expressed through Celtic symbols steeped in history, and mystery. Symbols of the eternal; of hope; love; remembering.

Curious she explores different ways of perceiving the world around her and uses a variety of mediums as she investigates ideas of reflected light and uses the flow and interaction of colour to express beauty and change.

Lisa sees life, nature, people, past, future, and the present moment as sacred and finds the unique or extraordinary in them.  Through her art she invites you to pause and consider.

In the pausing to look at the work, she hopes this act of contemplation brings ideas, new or old, that lead toward hope and courage.

THE INSPIRATION

Born in Melbourne, Australia, & educated at Latrobe Uni, Lisa graduated as a nurse in 1989 relishing the opportunity to help others.  While her children were at school she worked in administration & resumed her studies in 2015, this time embarking on a long-held dream to complete a visual arts degree.  This began at Eastern College where spirituality & theological studies were studied within the visual arts curriculum. Lisa has exhibited at several community events as well as at larger exhibitions such as the 2016 Justice Conference Melbourne & the 2018 Surrender Conference at Belgrave Heights.

Lisa's early appreciation of art was inspired by her dad, who possessed a talent for drawing & frequently encouraged her to create gifts & cards as expressions of love, a practice she continues to this day.  Over the years, artists such as David Hadley (a Clinical Psychotherapist & Art Therapist) & talented artists Jennifer Koch & Ilona Jetmar encouraged Lisa to develop her own style & invest in her gift.

Internationally renowned artist & author Makoto Fujimura, known for combining art & faith while embracing slow art, is an inspiration also.  His work has assisted Lisa in understanding & expressing the flow & intertwining of her spirituality, faith, & art
