The exhibition will be called Transformation. It is an exhibition of paintings exploring letting go of attachments through fire. The fire evolves from representing destruction to embodying life
Opening on 8th June 2.00
Transformations is an exhibition of paintings by Jessie McLennan. The paintings explore the notion of the fire as a cathartic release.
Hindu Goddess Kali embodies this by symbolising and aiding release of attachments. Jessie discovered material, emotional and historical attachments had holds on her and that by releasing these attachments life flows. Flames transform energy.
The energy is not lost, just changed.
Acknowledging the attachments is confronting, but incredibly freeing when let go. The flames were also inspired by many local artists including
Joan Price, Richard McMahon, Russel Lillford, Rebecca Vandyk Hamilton and Phil Henshaw.
Jessie McLennan is a figurative sculptor and participates in Open Studios West Gippsland.
Jessie completed a BA Fine Art (Sculpture) at RMIT in 1995. She teaches art and is an advocate for community arts.
